Campy lock

About Me Avid Cyclist

I have old 8 speed ergo leavers from about '93 or '94. Even when new every now and then the thumb lever would jamb when riding, average once every thousand miles or so but it has happened twice on one ride a few times…random. The solution for me was always to just nudge the finger lever as if shifting the other way and that and it would free it up. Could this be what is going on here? I have about 55,000 miles on this bike and have only re-built the right lever twice, left once and got the same problem anyway. They need to be done again now.

Worst design ever

About Me Casual/ Recreational

This part is the problem with all modern Campy shifters. The pivot corrodes and locks up the shifting. It needs to be made of Ti!

I hate these friggin things

About Me Competitive Cyclist

I love Campy stuff, but this part in particular will work only for about 3/4 of a season before it corrodes and jams up. The teeny little rivet-pivot freezes so the teeth either refuse to engage, or refuse to dis-engage. Maybe my sweat is especially toxic, but this is nuts.
